The Yappie is a project of Yappie Inc., a Delaware nonprofit nonstock corporation. These terms of service (this "Agreement") govern your use of theyappie.com and the reporting, tools, and email communications we offer there (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you're agreeing to this Agreement. If you don't agree to it, please don't use the Service.
The Service isn't directed at children under 13, and if you're between 13 and 18, you should be using it with a parent or guardian's knowledge.
We may update this Agreement from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date above, and for anything material, we'll post a notice on the Site or email registered subscribers. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the new terms.
Who We Are
Yappie Inc. is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. In furtherance of its tax-exempt purposes as a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and applicable laws, Yappie Inc. publishes original reporting to educate the public about policy developments affecting Asian American and Pacific Islander (“AAPI”) communities through non-partisan reporting, analysis, and research. Using the Site doesn't make you our partner, employee, or agent, and nothing here should be read to create that kind of relationship.
The Service
We provide news content, features, and an email newsletter through theyappie.com and newsletters.theyappie.com. We may change, add to, limit, or shut down any part of the Service at any time, and we're not liable to you for doing so.
Newsletter and Email
If you sign up for our newsletter, you're telling us the email address is yours and that you want to hear from us. You can unsubscribe whenever you like. Every email has a link for it, or you can just write to [email protected].
Acceptable Use
Don't use the Service to break the law, harass or threaten anyone, impersonate someone else, spread malware, try to break into our systems or anyone else's, scrape or data-mine the Site without our permission, or otherwise mess with how the Service works for other people. We can remove content or cut off access for anyone who does these things, at our discretion.

Copyright
Everything on the Site, including articles, photos, graphics, and design, aside from anything we've licensed or that you've submitted, belongs to Yappie Inc or our licensors and is protected by copyright law. You're welcome to read, share links to, and quote briefly from our work with attribution; you may not republish, reproduce, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission.
If you believe something on our Site infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with a description of the work, where you found the infringing material on our Site, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized.
Trademarks
"The Yappie" and any related logos are marks of Yappie Inc. You may not use them without our prior written consent, except to accurately refer to us (for example, in a link or citation).
Links to Other Sites
The Site sometimes links to other websites, and our newsletter and analytics tools rely on services like Google Analytics and beehiiv Inc. We don't control those other sites or services and aren't responsible for their content or practices. Once you leave our Site, you're subject to whatever terms and privacy practices that other site has.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
WE PROVIDE THE SERVICE "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, YAPPIE INC AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND VOLUNTEERS AREN'T LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Indemnification
If your use of the Service or your violation of this Agreement leads to a claim against Yappie Inc, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including attorneys' fees, in defending against it.
Termination
We can suspend or end your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause. You can stop using it whenever you want. The sections of this Agreement that are meant to outlast your use of the Service–Copyright, Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law–will continue to apply after your access ends.
Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts sitting in the State and County of New York and waive any jurisdictional, venue, or inconvenient forum objections to such courts.
