Founded in 2018, The Yappie (theyappie.com) is an independent, nonprofit newsroom dedicated to tracking Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) policy news and activism. We are currently looking for an experienced writer/journalist to join our editorial team and become the primary author of our flagship weekly/biweekly newsletter.   • Team: Editorial
  • Location: Fully remote; no travel is required.
  • Reports to: Editor-in-Chief
  • Status: Project-focused and flexible hours based on editorial team activities, which take place mostly on the weekends or early in the week.
  • Timeline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until this role is filled. 
  • Role type: Independent contractor
  • Compensation: Project-based; you will be paid per project.

      • 2-3 writing samples
      • Your portfolio
      • No cover letter is required

      Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until this role is filled. We welcome consideration of degree-holding graduates and those with professional work experience. If you are a current student, we may ask for proof of enrollment in a degree program. You must be authorized to work in the United States.
